I drive a 2010 Dodge Chiliad Caravan. This has happened to me twice now. In the centre of driving, the engine shuts off along with anything power related including steering. I was driving at a slow speed when this happened. I was able to put the van into park , turn the key to the off position and restart the vehicle. The but light that comes on is the Electronic Stability Control (ESP) light. I called the Dodge customer service and was told at that place are no recalls. I have not contacted a mechanic nonetheless.

Since September 2018, my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan has started randomly (and unexpectedly) turning off/stalling/stopping while driving.
Information technology happens at whatever speed, any temperature, any gas level. 3 split up mechanics cannot reproduce it or offer any solutions for fixing.
Sent a complaint in to Chrysler today; hopefully they will have some ideas. It'southward a safety issue - at one point I was going with the period of traffic during Rush Hr!

The car has shuts off many times while driving within the first mile, usually in the neighborhood in the morning when going to piece of work. Once information technology shuts off it is good to go. I have taken information technology to Dodge, but it is not repeatable and works fine for them. Information technology is exceptional and there is nothing consistent. I seem to have all the electrical items working like Air/Heater blowing, radio on. I normally pull over, steering gets tough due to the lack of power for power steering and restart and become back on my way. Whatever help would be helpful, since the mechanics at the local Dodge dealership can not observe the issue. Information technology happened today, and my friend placed a reader on the connector under the steering wheel and nothing was recorded.

My daughter was driving one solar day and complaint of hard steering wheel and restarting this van. Took to my regular workshop. Was not sure and thought a random issue. Today 03/08/2018 I was driving and on one roundabout steering felt hard and have to utilize a lot of force. Realized that engine stalls. Put in neutral and restarted. Now I am searching and finding all rants almost this consequence. No codes, no lights but stalls. It is scary if got in any accident. I am recording this in the event anything happens due to this. I volition surely going to courtroom confronting Dodge. Other persons tin can come with me.
This van had following issues: changing rotors every 10 k- 15 g warping, cylinder misfires at 45k- repaired nether warranty, at present stalling engine.
Contrivance and Chrysler makes lemons and do non back their product. This is a safety consequence. Ship department in government must take information technology seriously.

Update from Mar 31, 2018: had cheque engine light came upwardly few days before. and so I parked it and chosen my buddy. today i took it out to drop my wife and came domicile. and so i was to go to my friends identify for code reading. and the check calorie-free vanishes on me. he still cam home and we checked memory for codes, 0406 EGR, for now we deleted the code. if it comes again we volition cheque it and order EGR to replace at my home.
Update from Sep 17, 2020: then on august 15,2019, the engine stalled and never get started. took to mechanic. guess what 2 cylinders were dead. The engine Roasted at 135,000 km, despite the regular maintenance (DON'T BUY CHRYSLER OR Dodge). spent $3,800. to install onetime motor inverse timing chain, egr valve, h2o pump. was running firn until yesterday, *K the engine stalled again once.
come on LEMON maker, assume some responsibleness, the engine was bad. kickoff it have misfires at 35 1000. yous repaired and now at 135K again two dead.
Update from Sep 29, 2020: once again on 09/21/2020. i was going on route at 60KM/ hr. engine stalls with no prewarning, just drop dead. no control over steering, no breaks. accept to shift to natural and restarted. went to my mechanic and done the OBD diagnosis. absolutely no mistake. It is unsafe to drive merely take no options equally zero could be found to correct. I am making this as a record for hereafter if any thing happen to bring in the court as prove of failure of Contrivance/ Chrysler/ Jeep to provide a solution for a recurring this outcome with many vehicles.

For over 2 years Chrysler could not effigy out the problem equally no engine codes were given. March 28 the van stalled twice on the highway putting my wife's life in danger. Information technology was dropped off at the dealer and took a calendar week to go information technology to stall out. They say information technology is the egr valve but wont guarantee that it will set the problem. I opened a file with Chrysler Canada and they refused to help. A defect complaint form has been submitted to Transport Canada equally well. Fifty-fifty though it stalls with no alarm it is lamentable that Chrysler does not put a value on their customers' lives.
Not a proficient style to keep customers! Many other problems to report...

In the past a few weeks, information technology happened iv times that the engine of my Grand Caravan lost power suddenly when driving. No warnings earlier it happened, and the engine check lite is always off.
Then far it all happened in the morn, afterwards driving out tens of meters or a few hundred of meters. After information technology happened, I demand to put the shift to Neutral or Park, and restart the auto.
The trouble is likely to happen more than frequently recently. This is very dangerous. If it happened on the highway, it may crusade an accident.

Dealer had no inkling equally to cure for this problem, mayhap too many keys on primal concatenation. Really!!!!!! Problem was too intermittent to diagnose, no codes. Finally began to fail enough, that I left it for a tech to bulldoze home. Failed on him, replaced egr valve, has not failed since. I've read enough complaints to see that the trouble is pretty common, how come its and so hard for Dodge to acknowledge and fix egr. Expert thing I had extended warranty or it would accept cost an arm and leg.

We have an extended warranty for 7 year 70K. The problem started final in Nov 2014 and we took it to the dealer twice. That year we took it twice and in Jan 2015 they said it was the ignition switch and inverse it. We did not have any trouble after that until Nov 2015 when the temperatures started to get cold again. This year nosotros have taken it back three times. In one case we had it towed since the dealer could not replicate the trouble.
The dealer changed out the ignition switch the start fourth dimension, 2nd time they ran a diagnostic examination and found nothing wrong simply changed the WIN and TIPM. 3rd time they changed the R&R, PCM and uploaded the engine software . Now in four days the van has stalled twice on two separate days.
We have noticed that if yous dont allow the van to warm up where the needle goes close to the normal running temperature the van stalls inside the starting time mile. Nonetheless, information technology has stalled going up an incline and once driving at 45 mph. Otherwise the van stalls driving at lower than 30 mph speeds.
Anyone has whatsoever idea what to do side by side?

This vehicle is so frustrating not to mention potentially deadly. I do non feel comfortable driving it especially because I accept my 4 year old in the van. I am appalled that Dodge has not taken buying of this issue and has non fixed the consequence. I am a diehard Mopar fan; however, my side by side purchase will likely exist a Chevy because I can no longer trust Contrivance to do correct by it's customers. Someone volition die because of this upshot....if they haven't already. Why must it accept that to get them to fix this consequence?!

Upon purchasing the car it began to stall oft. I was told about the retrieve for the WIN so we merely assumed that was the result. It kept getting worse and worse. Called for recall and was #328 on the listing to be stock-still which meant a long time of waiting. After going on a mini trip 4 hours away it stalled 10 times once was on the interstate with only 2 lanes due to construction and no shoulder to pull onto. And so I had to slow from 70 mph to a terminate in very fast traffic almost causing a wreck. Took it to local shop and the EGR valve needed replaced (which my extended warranty didn't embrace). No issues since. Due to have think fixed next week every bit I called some other dealership that didn't have a waiting list. Looks similar a lot of others fixed their effect with a new EGR valve too.

This van, like then many other 2010 Caravans shuts off while driving. It has been happening for over a year at present, only recently nigh every mean solar day and no longer just leaving the neighborhood.
The dealership plays their cards close to their breast when dealing with this result. Upon the first phone call about this result they played totally impaired, like it was a surprise to hear of this even being an event. Today when taking in for an unrelated recall, they played like it was virtually unheard of until I flexed and showed that I'g a knowledgeable consumer and that there were nearly one/4 one thousand thousand vehicles under recall for this upshot and told them that I don't want it dorsum until they fix the issue.
They sure every bit hell better put some miles on it earlier telling me they can't replicate. Trip 2 was reset to nothing when pulled into the service bay and if I selection information technology up without being fixed for the $110 diagnostic accuse and at that place has been no try to replicate the issue I will lose my absurd.

I am so worried virtually what I am reading regarding this van. We bought ours new in April of 2010 and to date it has shut downwardly xxx+ times while driving. I can be going 15 miles an hour or 70 miles an 60 minutes, it does not matter! There is no rhyme or reason as to when or why information technology will close down. But like the other complaints, the power steering , brakes, door locks, radio...everything SHUTS DOWN!
2d to terminal time was near a month agone. My son, who is fifteen and has a learner's driver'southward allow was suppose to be behind the wheel. Since we were running belatedly, I decided to just drive. At threescore mph downwardly GA 400 only before exit xv. When this happens, I hit the hazard lights, put the car in neutral, turn the key, the van ordinarily starts, then put it in bulldoze, plow off the hazards and then motility on my way. This time the van did not get-go then I had to move it to the shoulder....which is not like shooting fish in a barrel. No power steering with a 5500lb van is very difficult.
Dodge MUST take these problems seriously. I have been in contact with Contrivance since this problem started. They offered me a "disbelieve" on a new van. I told them that I needed them to guarantee they would have this van off the road. They told me they volition "fix" information technology, and put it back on the road. I told them to "fix" it and give it dorsum to me. I reminded them that after over a dozen times in 3 different dealers, they have non been able to "set" the problem. They will Not be able to "FIX" this for anyone else. Then they told me that "it was not my concern what happened to the van later on I traded it in." They besides told me the van "is performing as it should."
I am at my wits terminate. Anyone with this problem Please contact me. I would similar to become this problem solved for our family unit forth with your family. I have no clue how to practice this, but with many voices, we tin can speak louder and be heard. Anyone with any suggestions as to how we can get our voices heard, Delight email me. For well-nigh 6 Months now my Contrivance Caravan has been shutting off, mostly when information technology was idling. I took it in to the dealer they said it is the win module(which was replaced in 2011 function of a recall) so they replaced it. I collection it xxx minutes to my house left the car on and went in came out and it shut off again. Finally after iii-iv weeks going back and forth they adamant it was the cam shaft sensor wiring harness, they fixed that and information technology seemed to exist OK for a while now. Total cost for both jobs $1,000.00.
A few weeks ago I was driving on the highway in Michigan and I was cutting across 3 lanes and all of the sudden I had no more power, I was fortunate plenty to pull over into the middle lane. I tried to re-start the car but it would not turn on. I could hear information technology go almost like it was stuck at trying in the On position, it'south but similar putt putt putt and nada. I thought perchance some gas I still had merely under 1 quarter tank so I packed all the kids and crossed over to other street and got some gas, put in a gallon, still did not turn over. 2 hours later I got the van towed to a mechanic and it turned on right away. I am agape to drive this vehicle and I just bought a 2009 Dodge Journeying and am worried that this is soon to give me the same problem.
So I exercise non know what to exercise, if I have it back to the dealer it's gonna cost me more without a real solution. I am reading about the TIPM law arrange and not certain if it is related

Had the ignition retrieve fixed in 2012. Driving downwards the road at 30 km, (June 12 2014) engine just shut down. No power steering, brakes or anything. Scary even at 30 km/h. Started correct up later on vehicle was put in park. Second occurrence June fourteen. Traveling on a main road doing about 70 km/ h with my daughter in the van with me. Same affair happened. Van close correct down. Fortunately I was able to declension into a store lot to get off the primary road. Very scary. In my eyes van is a death trap.
From everything I have read, no one tin effigy out what the event is. No longer a reliable vehicle at only 4 years old. Checked the error codes using the primal in ignition turning the key to on, off, on, off, on. All I got was ---- Done. No errors present. At low speeds, it feels as though the vehicle bogs a bit. Bringing to the shop today.

And then my 2010 Dodge Yard Caravan SXT, 400 engine, started to develop a problem at around 95500 miles. My wife unremarkably drives it and she has been driving for about xiv years. The car would suddenly stall at random times with no ability steering, or power brakes. She would pull it over with great difficulty, put it in park, and restart. Everything would exist normal again. The offset time was at a carmine lite, then while driving down a local road. Then again, on another back road. These incidents occurred over a period of 6 weeks or and so and profoundly disturbed my wife. She described it as the "power steering" and "brakes not working".
I've been driving for 43 years and I've experienced quite a bit, and so I decided to bandy with her for a while to see what was happening. Later a few weeks it happened to me. The car stalled on a main road while traveling at about 50 mph. Not panicking, I simply dropped the gear into neutral and restarted. It started immediately and I popped information technology back into bulldoze. I was back in concern inside seconds, but without being experience, I tin can see how this could cause somebody to crusade an blow if they didn't know how to handle it.
After researching the issue, it seems to lucifer an EGR valve replacement condition. I never had a Service Engine Light come on, just with over 96000 miles on the engine information technology seems to be a probable culprit. I've schedule and EGR valve replacement at the Dodge dealer next week. I'll update afterward that's been completed, how much it price, etc. Stay tuned for an update.
Update from Aug 31, 2021: I had the EGR valve replaced in November. I never had the problem over again. In April the engine failed and I got rid of the car. Information technology definately was the EGR valve causing the event!
